Sean Viale
My name is Sean Viale, I’m currently finishing up my third year of college. Next year should end with me having a meteorology degree in hand. Coming into college I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do so I just picked what looked fun. Luckily for me it has worked out great. I love learning about the weather, although I could use less calculus, and I’ve made some great friendships within the major. It would be an honor for me to serve as the Vice President of the AMS next year, although I’m excited just to involve myself more often. I only started involving myself fall of 2011 and every time I take part in meetings or events I really do enjoy all of it. Next year my only difficult class will be synoptic so I will have plenty of time to give my full attention to AMS if I am elected VP.
Matt Brady
Hello all! I am Matt Brady, also known as Brady, and I am running for Secretary. Currently, I am a junior in Meteorology but have credits that designate me as a senior. I am currently enrolled in Atmospheric Dynamics II and Atmospheric Physics II, and these are a few of the senior level courses. Next year, I only need Synoptic and a few electives to finish my course work.
When I went to high school just north of Orlando, I had the honor to shadow a local Chief Meteorologist, Tom Terry at WFTV, and it was an experience of a lifetime, especially with the seabreeze collision storms that occurred over Central Florida during the summer. Recently, I learned that I will be interning with Tom Terry for the upcoming summer. This will provide a wealth of knowledge that I can take into my career and give me experience in a Meteorological workplace, which I can use with me as the Secretary in the upcoming semesters.
As a person, I am friendly to everyone and will be open to suggestions for helping out our branch in any way. Also, I am a timely person, rarely late to an event or missing deadlines. I will take this practice into my responsibilities as your Secretary. I am very intrigued and passionate about weather. In fact, in free time I like to track severe weather or hurricanes that are occurring around the country or world. I would also like to bring a energetic outlook into my position as Secretary and help the well-being of the American Meteorological Society/National Weather Association North Florida Branch.
Thank you for your considerations in this year’s nominations.
